Report

I have definitely been scammed. The on-line correspondence continued for over a month. This man went by the handle dvscott18yahoo.com/David M. Scott. He is very tenacious and patient. He is Nigerian, working out of the UK. His profile presentation is very charming…and believable. There were several “red flags”…during our many conversations…but there were always excuses that seemed very believable. Finally, he commenced to ask for money…This man does his “homework” extremely well, and is able to say all the things a vulnerable woman wants to hear. Please be on the look out for dvscott18@yahoo. He has hundreds of aliases, so one has to be very alert! His normal MO is lonely widower, lost wife in car crash. One daughter. Is willing to relocate if he finds the right woman. Portends to be Shell petroleum analyst…building refineries in Dubai…has small construction company…He has poor spelling and punctuation in correspondence… scams are all over the internet!! Beware

  1. The BIGGEST red flags are

Nigeria – Being in Nigeria for ANY reason whatsoever. Yes there could be a chance someone really IS there for work but the chances are VERY VERY slim.

Someone who claims there parents died, former wife died, etc. (to cancer, or a ”tragic” car accident.)

    HORRIBLE spelling.

They always have a child or two. Sometimes they claim their children or child died but I noticed alot of them sticking with the ”one kid” MO.

Scammers work off of scripts and one can usually tell (if they no what to look for) that it’s a scam by the way they type. They will also send emails saying ”Hello dear” and end emails with ”Your husband to be” ”love you more then anything” and a bunch of other gushy bulls*it.

If you ever suspect someone of being a scammer, copy and paste bits and pieces of the first email or two. You will see dozens of others who have been scammed by the same type of emails.

If one claims to be from a western country yet on the phone you detect a accent, that’s a big wake up call as well.

    I can go on forever.

Your scammer won’t give up, he’ll try contacting you more so don’t reply. They will eventually go away once they no you arn’t giving in. You are now also on the ”potential sucker list” AND will more then likely get other scam spam.

A good site is ”romancescam.com” – They are very nice and understanding and you will get alot of support there. Goodluck.

OH, can you happen to post his IP address up? If you google his IP address (which can be found in the header of the emails he sent) you might be surprised on other names.
